Praise the Lord, Gretchen, Norah, and I are back home in Peru. The past two months have been absolutely amazing as we led a group of Bible college students through this year’s summer internship in Morocco. The Lord worked miracles throughout the entire trip as each of the ten interns taught English and made solid contacts by passing out Bibles and CD’s containing gospel materials. It was really encouraging to hear the testimonies of Moroccan Christians who have come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior over the past few years. Believers in North Africa experience true persecution on a daily basis, but talking to each of them personally we saw such peace and joy in their lives. For the first time, they have comfort in knowing that they are children of God through Jesus Christ. One of our friends named Said received death threats from his own family after he told them that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. While we were there, he actually brought his Muslim brother to the church service so he could hear the Word of God taught. He is going through several difficult situations that we as Americans can only imagine, yet he is faithful in reading his Bible daily and attending every church service and discipleship session our team on the ground has every week. Our Peruvian teammate, César Copa, and his wife are doing a phenomenal job working inside of Morocco. They both were a tremendous help to our group as they translated everything from Arabic to Spanish, and then Gretchen and I would translate that from Spanish to English for the interns. It was quite an experience. César and his wife have been in North Africa for a little over a year and a half and have already learned enough Arabic to teach, preach, and disciple the Moroccans in their own language. The people absolutely love them! It encouraged me to see how well they are doing, and it’s especially exciting to tell other South Americans down here how the Lord can and wants to use them in the same way. For the rest of my time here in South America, I plan on traveling and promoting the work that’s being done in Morocco. Muslims are accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, but there is still an incredible need for laborers. Pray with us that the Lord will soon raise up more individuals both in North and South America to work with us in the fields of North Africa. |
